Orthodontic Solutions for Every Stage of Life
Achieving a perfect, healthy smile is the primary reason for undergoing orthodontic care. Braces can greatly enhance your appearance, boost your confidence, and leave you feeling beautiful inside out. Today, orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic, and can be removable or brackets bonded to your teeth, making them less noticeable than ever.
Any age is perfect for orthodontic treatment, and the duration of treatment depends on several factors, including age and the severity of the case. We offer comprehensive orthodontic treatments tailored to meet your unique needs and goals. Our experienced team prioritizes your comfort and uses state-of-the-art technology to provide efficient care.
Orthodontic Treatments by Life stage
Early Orthodontic Treatment - Phase I
Early treatment (also known as Phase One) typically begins around age eight or nine (Phase Two will begin around age 11 or older). The goal of early treatment is to correct the growth of the jaw and certain bite problems, such as underbite. Early treatment also helps to make room for permanent teeth to come in properly, lessening the chance of extractions in the future.
Early orthodontic treatment often includes the use of a palatal expander. The palatal expander “expands” (or widens) your upper jaw by putting gentle pressure on your upper molars each time an adjustment is made. The animation below will instruct you about when and how to adjust your expander. When you achieve the desired expansion, you will wear the appliance for several months to solidify the expansion and to prevent regression.
Orthodontics for Teens
Teenage years are a pivotal time for dental development, and orthodontic issues often become more apparent during this period. Crooked teeth, misaligned bites, and spacing issues can impact a teen’s self-confidence and overall oral health. Our team understands the importance of addressing these concerns promptly to set the stage for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
We believe in the power of personalized care, which is why we take the time to create customized treatment plans for each of our teenage patients. Whether traditional braces, clear aligners, or other orthodontic appliances are needed, we work closely with teens and their families to determine the most suitable solution based on their individual needs, preferences, and lifestyle.
Orthodontics for Adults
Orthodontic treatment is no longer just for teens. In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists states that one in five orthodontic patients is over the age of 21. Many adults are choosing to receive treatment because they understand the importance of maintaining their health, and they want to feel better about their appearance. Adults everywhere are taking advantage of the opportunity to receive orthodontic care, and now you can too.
Adult orthodontic treatment requires a personalized approach that takes into account factors such as lifestyle, aesthetics, and oral health. That’s why we offer a variety of orthodontic solutions tailored specifically to meet the needs and preferences of adult patients. From traditional braces to clear aligners and lingual braces, we’ll work with you to determine the best treatment option for your individual goals and concerns.
Duration of Treatment & FAQs
The duration of your orthodontic treatment can range from one to three years, depending on factors such as age, treatment method, and the complexity of your case. Your involvement and diligence play a crucial role in the success and efficiency of your treatment. For children, opting for interceptive or early treatment can also contribute to a shorter overall treatment time.
Before commencing your orthodontic care, your doctor will thoroughly discuss your options and provide an estimated time frame for your complete treatment.
WHAT IS ORTHODONTICS?
Orthodontics, also known as dentofacial orthopedics, is a specialized field of dentistry that focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial abnormalities.
AT WHAT AGE SHOULD I VISIT AN ORTHODONTIST?
Orthodontic treatment is not limited to a specific age group. While the American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have their first orthodontic visit around the age of seven, individuals of any age can benefit from orthodontic treatment. In fact, about one in every five orthodontic patients is over the age of 21.
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?
There are several reasons why orthodontic treatment is beneficial. Straight teeth are easier to clean and maintain, contributing to better oral hygiene and helping prevent other dental health issues. Additionally, a beautiful and aligned smile can boost self-confidence and improve the overall quality of life. Finally, untreated dental conditions can worsen over time, leading to more severe problems and increased costs.
