About the Doctors

R. Scott Anderson, DMD

Dr. Scott Anderson received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of California – Davis. He then completed his dental school education at the Oral Roberts School of Dental Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Anderson then practiced general dentistry for a year in Tulsa before returning to California. He completed his orthodontic specialty training at the University of California in San Francisco in 1989. In 1999, he finished a very elite and specialized course, which involves a focus on jaw function and facial esthetics, given by the world-famous Ron Roth. He graduated from this course with an even deeper love for the science of orthodontics.

Dr. Anderson grew up in Fairfield, California. He is married to his college school sweetheart, Deborah, and they have three children and three cats. Dr. Anderson has a strong commitment to his family and brings strong family values to his practice. He is involved in his local church and enjoys volunteering to help the youth group.

Richard H. Portalupi, DDS, MSD

Dr. Richard Portalupi grew up in the small lumber town of Arcata on the coast of Northern California. He attended the University of Santa Clara for his bachelor’s degree. From there, he went on to dental school at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

While serving as a part-time clinical instructor at the UCSF Dental School TMJ Clinic, Dr. Portalupi developed an interest in orthodontics and decided to go back to school for specialty training. In 1989 he graduated from the UOP Dental School with an orthodontic specialty certificate and a Master of Science degree. At UOP he received the Frederick West Leadership Award.

Dr. Portalupi is one of the few board certified orthodontists in the area. This means that he has taken a special series of tests, continuing education courses and will continue to present patient cases for certification and recertification to the American Board of Orthodontics.

He has served on and been a member of several professional and service organizations, including  the American Association of Orthodontists, the Yolo County Dental Health Foundation and the Roth Williams International Orthodontic Society. He has also served as president of the Napa/Solano Dental Society.

Dr. Portalupi is happily married with seven children. His interests include traveling, hiking, bicycling,  photography and studying the Italian language.
